I have read a lot of stories about people who got scammed on ebay or outside ebay. Buyers who claimed they paid for a product and requested the item right away and also making fake PayPal email transaction. Exactly this happend to me yesterday.
I posted on ebay an iPhone I wanted to sell and after a day a got a message in the inbox from a potential buyer saying that he or she (don't know exactly what to say because at first seemed to be a female ebay nickname) saying that is interested in this product and made an offer for 560.20 usd. I accepted and then he/she came back with another message asking for my paypal ID to make the transaction. Because I know that people can send money on PayPal knowing just someone's ID, I thought this is legit and I sent one of the emails I use on my paypal account. Then I received immediately an email in that address saying that the payment was made and I should get a notification on my email because he/she already got it. I checked my inbox and there was nothing from PayPal, no transaction notification or anything official and also on my PP account there was nothing on hold or any money came in.
Already seemed suspicious business and I replied to his/her email saying that I got to email no notification, no transaction, absolutely nothing. After 5 min he replied (and remeber that on each email's subject he was using capital letters, lots of typos and agressive writing style) asking me to check my SPAM folder (so this was another clear hint about being a scam) and to hurry up delivering the phone and to send the documents to a PP email he gave me in order to get my PP account credited. From this moment I said I will stay a bit in his game but I will play the same card. He asked photos with the package to check if is ready to be shipped. I forgot to mention that he gave me an address in Qatar, the zip code was fake (it was a phone country code instead which proves that even he considered me idiot, even he is idiot) and I said I will deliver it using DHL. He made a payment invoice with these specific details and sent it to me as this was sent from a PayPal office.
I took some photos from internet with a package and sent it as it was my package ready to be shipped and he kept insisting on shipping it that day because the money were sent and he paid.
Finally I said to him in another email that I will call back the package from the delivery company because I tried to send those papers and the tracking number to that emails he claimed is from PayPal in order to have my funds and the address wasnt' real. Of course I was playing him here, I didn't sent any package and I already verified that email and that was really a invalid fake email address. I even sent that email to PayPal to check and they confirmed is a phishing account.
Seeing all these he became more aggressive and kept saying that he made a payment already, then he said that he will make the payment again from another email account and again he insited that he sent the payment and I should ship the phone. For me was enough and I aid I will not sell anymore the phone and I kindly asked him to request PayPal for refund if there really was any payment made and to not disturb me again baout this. What do you think? He became aggressive more and more and he accused me that I want to scam him and I took his money and I don't want to deliver the product. And them the bomb came- he thretened me that the next day in the morning he will report me to the police and ask his money back, even if is not for money because he has more than this but he hates the fact of being scamed and lied. This was something to laugh more than to be scared. How can he dare to call me a scammer after all this game? Of course I reported it to PayPal and Ebay and I told him he is reported already about this. He just had the guts to reply that the police will take his money back from me anyway, he will let the police deal and he asked if I have a bank account so he will make the payment again. This was to much!
I listed the phone again on ebay and this time I said to myself I will deal just on ebay's system. After about an hour I made the listing I got another inbox message on ebay from an account just opened with a message saying he want s to buy the ihone for his son ans a gift for his birthday and to send him my paypal id to make the payment. I didn't deal with this and it's obvious who was again.
I just want to say to be aware about this scammers on ebay, make all the selling transaction on ebay's sytem and do not deal with any buyer outside ebay. Don't sell anything to anyone without making sure you got paid first and is legit and genuine transaction. Be careful and don't let this thiefs to svam you online.
